The movie Hidden Figures is a must-see for the entire family. After seeing the reviews and hearing the comments on Facebook I knew we needed to see this film. For me, it was personally a story that resonated with me. I remember being in high school and having a counselor suggest I reconsider a different major. Although I never thought twice about her suggestion, it is clear now she felt academically I was not prepared for the rigors of engineering. The irony is whether she believed it or not I persevered despite her reservations. The entire time I matriculated through high school and college I never knew about these African-American women, who worked at NASA. The sense of pride I felt watching this film was overwhelming and who knew my same struggles with Analytical Geometry was nothing for Mrs. Katherine Johnson. The women never made it look difficult because they always figured out a way to get their jobs done. As an engineering graduate, I learned a valuable lesson early on and that is to never let anyone deter your path. If you have yet to see the film, buy or rent it now. You will not be disappointed.
