DIY
While working I realized I used my living room sofa and dining room table as a work space. My first DIY decor project is to create an office space in my apartment. The living space is 1400 square feet that include a combined dining room area and living room area. I visualized the best place for a an office space is between the living room and dining room. The overall goal is to use this space to plan, organize and work.
I am starting to put the finishing touches on my office space. In the meantime, I wanted to share my DIY for a decorative desk mat. Last week in IKEA I found a clear plastic desk mat and decided against buying because it was too plain. Whenever I need inspiration for an idea I go to Pinterest! If you are a fan of Pinterest like me you know it is never short on DIY inspiration. There were a number of ideas for creative ideas. Yes, you guessed it I returned to IKEA to buy the desk mat for $5.99 and found fabric at $8.99/yard to cover my mat. In my apartment space, I wanted to eliminate the use of a spray adhesive so I purchased a small bottle of tacky glue from MICHAEL’S(TIP: always check Michael’s online for coupons before checking out) There was an online coupon for 40% off a regularly priced it. For the glue and a roll of duct tape(another DIY project for an IKEA item) I spent less than $7.
