After silently celebrating over the weekend when I thought the network decided to cancel the show, All My Babies’ Mamas (cringing as I type the title). While driving to work yesterday morning the Oxygen network attempted to defend the basis for airing this TRAINWRECK. WHY? There are no words as to why this man’s story would be newsworthy or of interest to any demographic. Reality TV has created a no holds barred in your face who cares what it said or what is done type of new television. Yes, I am guilty of tuning into some of this mindless television just for kicks and giggles but this one is beyond my realm of understanding!
How does a man who has fathered 11 children with 10 different women become worthy of a television slot? I thought I heard this morning that the network is showing a “complicated” family. Can “complicated” be interrupted as irresponsible and dysfunctional? There should have been an intervention some years ago. What can anyone possibly learn from this level of chaos? I am in no way saying that reality television programming is by any means for educational purposes. What I will agree on is the fact that airing this program will definitely highlight that fact that this lifestyle is acceptable. Hopefully the petitions circulating throughout cyberspace will reach the powers that be at the Oxygen network. This type of programming perpetuates so much negativity that already plagues the African American community.
Just my two cents…….
