It’s been a while since my last update on my tween. Since that time he has celebrated his 12th birthday. I see him coming into his own as far as his level of independence and how he handles his peers. Now this is not to say that I no longer have to remind him on the basics of proper grooming . This may never end! or least I hope it will!
The one highlight is the addition of braces. These are a year over due as I learned last year that all of his teeth were out before his 11th birthday. Well, better late than never and when a child has a pretty bad overbite time is of the essence. My tween was extremely excited before the braces were put on and I guess that’s a part of being a child. He was all smiles outside of the orthodontist’s office but once he arrived home I wanted to go out the back door. The complaining about the pain was excruciating for me. If only he read all the information from the office his agony would have ended sooner than later. After multiple warm salt water rinses and acetaminophen the worst was over until he started eating and realized some foods required bite size portions. I felt like his braces were a right of passage as I had to endure the same agony.
He is finally breathing again and my head is no longer throbbing from the complaints. There is the every now and again threat to remove the braces himself! I ignore and move on to the next drama……..
