In the past three summers the kids were able to enjoy the YMCA summer camp. I love the fact the kids have no fear of water and my mini me has no issues getting her hair wet. However, for mini me and swimming= proper hair care becomes a major issue. I had her braided the weekend before camp started with the hope it would last four weeks. No such luck after about two weeks I couldn’t take the frizzies. The hair stylist was nice enough to give me suggestions on the type of shampoos to use due to the chlorine each day. In my search for shampoo, I looked specifically for purifying and clarifying shampoos. After reading that African Americans should steer clear of shampoos/conditioners with sulfate ingredients. There I was in Wegmans searching the shelves high and low until I found a sulfate free purifying shampoo by Aveeno. Our daily ritual is shampoo the hair and I dab a little bit of virgin coconut oil for moisture. In the past few days, I used Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in conditioner on her hair after shampooing.
