Tomato Bistro Manayunk Philadelphia, PA

Last year on July 4th,  I decided to go to the Welcome America concert with kids in tow.   The parkway was filled with people so trying to find a good parking space and navigate the crowd was more than a job.   By the time we made it to the area where we were able to stand and watch the concert I realized we missed Estelle and DJ Jazzy Jeff.    We did get to see the fireworks and I think that’s all the kids cared about.  After the fireworks, getting to the car and  home took almost 2 hours.   I knew this year we were definitely going to skip the parkway and resort to watching from home.

The kids and I went over to the Manayunk section of the city to get some ice cream.   Before the ice cream I wanted to grab a quick bite so we stopped by The Tomato Bistro.  The name was familiar as I saw it on posted on one of the discount sites either Living Social or Groupon.   I decided we were going to try the Tomato Bistro, the menu offered a variety of selections, and the kids menu offered pizza, grilled cheese and chicken fingers.   My favorite was ordering Sangria, which was on the house as it was the last bit in the pitcher.  I decided to order the steak tacos and the kids wanted pizza so the kitchen did half pepperoni and half cheese.   I assume the July 4th holiday was the reason for the light crowd.  It worked in our favor because the service was fast.   The staff was friendly and accomodating.  The kitchen sent out samples of the tomato bisque soup with a nutty biscuit which was really good.  My 5yo DD even gave it a thumbs up and she’s a really picky eater.   I’m a fan of a restaurant with a very clean restroom and they definitely get two thumbs up for their restroom.

Another plus was the variety of appetizers offered, recently I started ordering appetizers instead of a full entree.   Here’s a picture of our menu selections:

I had a question. The ad you have on your side bar, the answers one? Did you actually get the $150 for that? I was contacted today by Mike and he wanted to pay me for placing a ad? Just curious if you got your money?
