When I saw this on the local news, all I can say is WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
This summer I wanted to enroll both kids in the same camp program. Well I learned that the local YMCA offered camp for my 3yo DD and 9yo DS. A few years ago someone told me about scholarship offered by the Y for services. When I inquired about the scholarship, I had to complete application and provide all the requested documentation. I received an answer within 2 weeks. Both kids are going to a full day camp program at a reduced weekly rate. I know parents have preferences when it comes to summer camp however if you live in close proximity to a YMCA do not overlook the programs they can provide for your kids. The scholarships offered are an added bonus. For my 3yo DD, her weekly themed program includes includes arts & crafts, music, swimming, weekly visitors based on theme covered and games. For my 9yo DS, his weekly program includes art, music, swimming, field trips and sports.
I had the pleasure of staying at The Dupont Hotel located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of DC. From the moment the doorman opened the door, I knew it was going to be a great weekend. The hotel lobby has such inviting ambiance with a fireplace tucked in the corner. It offers plenty of comfortable seating to unwind once you arrive. I went into the Bar Dupont to get a glass of wine and an appetizer. The music was cranked up and conversation filled the air among the youthful crowd. My beverage of choice was a glass of Muscat and an order of calamari.
The room offers a boutique hotel feel with contemporary decor, room equipped with IPod docking station, flat screen tv, mini bar, heated bathroom floor tiles and Kiehl’s toiletries. The only thing on my wishlist for the room is darkening shades, shutters allowed too much light in the morning. Although this was a no technology weekend, the hotel does offer free wi-fi as well as computers with free internet acess in the business center. For hotel dining there is the Cafe Dupont, 24hour fitness center, valet service, 24hr concierge, massage and spa services.
Another added bonus was the friendly and professional staff. I would definitely return and will spread the word about this gem:)
