Vitamin Water

Jul 30, 2010

In the past few weeks, our weather has been well over 90 degrees.    I know it important to hydrate the body but I have such a dislike for just plain water.   I think I discovered Vitamin Water 2 syear ago.  It was love at first taste especially when it was a flavor I really, really liked.    What I like most about the product is the quirky statements on each bottle.   Why, am I addicted to Vitamin Water?…. all 125 calories of each bottle.    My favorite flavors are Tropical Citrus, XXX, and Dragonfruit.    Plain water is just not the same anymore.   I wish I could receive a whole year’s supply of my favorite flavors!

Shecky’s Philly

Jul 27, 2010

In February,  I learned about Shecky’s Girls NightOut from my friends TB and SA, who attended with a impending snow forecast.  Unfortunately I was not game to travel out in the inclement weather.    In April as we were out celebrating SA’s birthday I learned that Shecky’s was coming back in July.   For any advance tickets the goodie bags were discounted.  The admission price for Shecky’s is $10 and typically the goodie bags are $20 however with early registration the bags were $10.   I was so looking forward to our Jully 22nd hang out date.

The event is held in the Crystal Tea Room of the historic Wanamaker building in downtown Philly.   Our plan was to meet to grab a bite before heading into the event.   We decided on of the many  Marathon Grill locations, which was a simple walk through the new Macy’s downtown over to Chestnut Street.  I was pretty happy with my Marathon Burger and fries.  I was already warned about the yummy cocktails at the event so I wanted to have a good meal before going in.    When we arrived we had to check in and received our wristbands and goodie bag tickets.

The event is like being a kid in a candy store.  Vendors are set-up with all things for girls such as clothing, jewelry, handbags, cosmetics, shoes, hair accessories, undergarments, teeth whitening ($100, don’t ask) and food.    How could I forget the cocktails?  My favorite was the X-Rated Pink Lemonade which is XRated Fusion Liquer with pink lemonade.  All I can say is be responsible with these cocktails because honestly the cocktail tastes like pink lemonade.

After purchasing a necklace, two dresses and a cupcake from Cupcakes Gourmet it was time to call it a night.   I definitely look forward to attending another Shecky’s Girls NightOut.

Something New: Beauty Segments

Jul 27, 2010

I am so excited to bring “Something New” to my blog, a beauty segment with makeup artist @yarimakeupchic. Yari and I met via my brother on Twitter, when I saw she was a makeup artist a light bulb went off.   I thought a beauty segment would be a fun way to introduce a different topic on my blog.  The video format will hopefully give my readers and followers a hands on way to enhance your beauty regimen.

Initially our goal is to cover some of my makeup questions in a video format once a month.    If you would like us to address any of your beauty questions and concerns,  please feel free to send our way.

Coming Soon….see ya then 🙂

Smartphone—Finally

Jul 23, 2010

Smartphone-Last month my last phone was not charging with the in home charger.  Instead of paying my insurance deductible and getting a replacement I had the Verizon Wireless store reactivate an older phone until I decided which Smartphone to purchase.   The problem with the old phone is I no longer had the in home charger and could only charge in the store and it was not a camera phone.   In the past few weeks, I debated on which Smartphone to buy so that I finally move into the 21st century of technology.   My biggest dilemma was not spending a fortune to upgrade my phone.  Last year I learned the smart way to upgrade my Verizon phone was to purchase online vs. going into the store.    When you purchase  phones online the rebates are taken off before checkout.   I wavered back and forth on purchasing a Droid vs. Blackberry.  The Motorola Droid definitely exceeded my budget at $199.  The LG Ally phone was going to cost me $49 vs. the Blackberry at  FREE.   When purchasing items online I utilized the reviews and after careful consideration I decided to go with the Blackberry Curve 2.    On Monday, I ordered my phone with an expected delivery of Wednesday.

On Wednesday, I checked the tracking number to see when to expect my delivery.  After running some errands, I arrived on my street to find the FEDEX guy parked in the middle of the street.    It was perfect timing as he was delivering across the street and headed to my door with my phone.  I was like a kid in a candy store with my new gadget.   When I opened the box I was excited to find my new purple, sleek phone.   I scoured the directions on how to activate my phone and realized I needed to charge the phone.  This was hilarious because after plugging up the phone I realized it was missing the battery.

The first step was to activate my new phone which was pretty straightforward.   I am against visiting a Verizon Wireless store if I can do the steps from the comforts of home.   The next step was transferring my contact list from the old phone to the new phone.   Lucky for me the last contact list on my Verizon Wireless profile was from my most recent phone.   I had to go into my Blackberry and download Backup Assistant.     Now I will admit this took a little while as I navigated my way around the Blackberry to find the multiple downloads available.  After about an hour I downloaded Backup Assistant and transferred my contact list to the new phone.   Later that night I was introduced to BBM, linked my Google email and dowloaded the Twitter application.  OMG, I can finally check my emails and tweet while out of the house.

I am still a novice and looking forward to learning about all the phone has to offer.   Now I finally feel like I am a part of the 21st century of technology…..and totally wonder what took me so long to get on board? Smartphone

Weekend Plans-“Me Time”

Jul 22, 2010

After a 3 week workout hiatus, I am finally back in the gym.  This weekend I have some “mommy free time” and am contemplating how to use it.  In light of the major tension I can feel in my shoulders, I thought a spa visit for a full body massage was a good idea.  I did check with Le Jardin Day Spa and Salon for available appointments.    However the one thing I crave as a mom is the ability to enjoy a meal uninterrupted.  Therefore I thought a movie and lunch would be a great treat.   Since  I missed the last  20 minutes of Sex and the City I want to see it again even though the new Tom Cruise movie with Cameron Diaz Knight & Day looks like an adrenaline rush.
