Alicia Keys Head Blogger Search
A month ago Alicia Keys was in search of a head blogger for her new website-I Am A Superwoman. The details for the job was posted on Monster.com. In my quest to land a “dream job”, I hesitated but applied anyway. While I kept asking myself “what do I have to lose”. Last Friday Alicia Keys was the musical guest on Good Morning America and she announced the person who landed the head blogger job.
The website I Am a Superwoman is definitely going to be a must read for inspiration.
Why I Need to Register Early for Blogalicious 2010 in Miami
I celebrated my 40th birthday in South Beach last year and totally became a fan of Miami and South Beach specifically the Hotel of South Beach and the Ritz-Carlton spa. Since I was in Miami last year during Blogalicious 2009, I was unable to attend the conference in Atlanta. When I discovered Blogalicious 2010 was going to be in Miami, I was beyond excited. Therefore I have to be in the house this year and get cracking on registering.
My top ten reasons for why I need to register early for Blogalicious 2010:
- I can work hard during the day and party at night with@jaeldesignsinc
- A chance to revisit the amazing spa at the Ritz-Carlton hotel
- Indulge in the Ritz Carlton’s Heavenly bed, oooooo I can wait for the best night’s sleep
- Go back to Gloria Estefan’s restaurant Larios for the best lobster fritters and mojitos
- I can finally get a picture of the Versace mansion in South Beach
- Actually walk on the beach this time
- Meet and Greet awesome ladies who are all about blogging
- Do a rewind on celebrating my birthday(October 9th) in Miami with my birthday(October 17th) sister from another mister @jaeldesignsinc
- Relax, Relax, Relax 🙂
- Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy 🙂
Do these work for you? They certainly are worth me saving for a lovely and fruitful weekend !
Happy Father’s Day 2010-I Remember My Dad
It was exactly 8 weeks ago that I took on the task of clearing out one of the bedrooms at my mom’s house. I find joy in throwing “stuff” out, my theory is if you don’t remember it OR it was not used in the past week –LET IT GO! After dumping at least 80% of the “stuff” in the room, I came across some very sentimental items, all of my high school graduation cards. The card that I will always treasure was the card from my dad, wow to seen his signature from 13 years ago:) I remember sitting on the stage at my high school graduation and looking over at my family and winking. It feels like it was yesterday and the fact I also insisted on having a limo transport us to and from the graduation ceremony. My dad tried to provide anything for his “smooch”.
He always wanted me to go to college as I was thinking “come on dad what else would I do” 🙂 Unfortunately my dad passed away during the 1st semester of my sophomore year. I can remember the pride on my dad’s face when I made the dean’s list. It was tough returning to school but I pride my dad felt made it worth the effort.
When I look back over my life I often wonder if he is my guardian angel. Hopefully he is and smiling down on his busy grandchildren who constantly throw his “smooch” for a loop. Just the other day my baby bro and I were talking about how each of us stand just like our dad. It was funny that we both noticed. Dad you are missed every Father’s Day and beyond. Love ya forever, “Smooch” —To my brothers, I hope you are remembering some of dad’s lessons everyday as you raise your kids!
Wishing all the dads, a wonderful and blessed day!
Juggling: 8 weeks and counting
A week since my last post and I feel like something is missing. When I thought about school ending for my DS on the 22nd of June, I thought it was so far off in April. Now 8 weeks later we are down to 6 days and summer camp starts in two weeks. Wow, where has the time gone. I have spent the last 8 weeks working on a job that fits with what I want to do, I landed a real interview 2 weeks ago.
I launched my new site, Virtual-Suite. The school year is winding down and the summer is quickly approaching which means it’s time for summer camp. I was very fortunate to find camp slots for all the weeks needed except for one. Whew, one other item I can cross off my to do list. Next on my to do list is finding a new beach for vacation. Another to do item is to find a new school for DD and this will require research between traditional preschools and montessori.

Summer Dessert
When it gets warm I always crave this wonderful dessert, I discovered the recipe watching one of my favorite Food Network cooks- Paula Deen. I hope you enjoy it too.
Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding
- 2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
- 6 to 8 bananas, sliced
- 2 cups milk
- 1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding(if not available I use vanilla)
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream
Directions
Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.
In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Duke & Winston
I love to read about up and coming entrepreneurs. After watching a segment of Visions 2010 on the local network WPVI Channel 6, that featured Seun Olubodun, owner of a new mens clothing store Duke & Winston, I decided to contact Seun as part of my new Companies I Heart column. Seun’s story is truly one of entrepreneurial spirit booming in Philadelphia. He was previously a web designer and decided to launch a more creative business. His business is named for his English bulldog “Duke” and Winston Churchill who was called the “British Bulldog”. The line incorporates British imagery which stems from his British upbringing in London. I love casual apparel that has a unique style with a statement.
Duke & Winston has added a line of womens tees. I will have an opportunity to rock the line in Miami. Thanks Sean for the opportunity to wear your line. Here’s your opportunity to support his business by visiting Duke & Winston online.
