Electrolux and Kelly Ripa Kick Off A Text-A-Thon for a Cause

Listen Up Ladies, this is another campaign to raise funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer with Eletrolux and Kelly Ripa. Thanks to those who contributed to the Virtual Lemondade Stand campaign.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, Electrolux and Kelly are holding a “Text-A-Thon For A Cause” to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The goal of the research is it to develop a method for early detection which will lead to a cure for this type of cancer.

During the month of September, you can donate $5 to the cause by texting “KELLY” to 85944 from your mobile phones(standard text messaging rates apply)or logging onto
www.kelly-confidential.com.  Every time you log on to the website you will be entered for a chance to win a luxury front load washer and dryer from Electrolux in Turquoise Sky.

You can also spread awareness by sending a virtual t-shirt to friends and family. For very t-shirt sent, Electrolux will donate $1 to the OVRF. For all of my mommy fashionistas, you can purchase a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Kelly Ripa and 100% of the proceeds will go to the OVRF.

Today’s Date 9/9/09 and Lordy, Lordy, Look Who’s Turning Forty

I’m not certain what the significance is for today’s date. What I do know is it marks exactly 30 days until I turn the big 4-0. I am in the process of constructing a list of 40 reasons I am oh so glad to turn forty….. Stay tuned…. PS My little man tells me I look like a teenager–gotta love our boys!

Silky Music: All Star Tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly

As someone who was born and raised in Philadelphia, it was impossible to grow up in the city and not know and love the music of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. The music is timeless. I can still remember the the lyrics to most of the songs I grew up listening to on the radio. The new tribute CD features a mix of artists such as Vanessa Williams, Joe, Musiq Soulchild, Mary J. Blige and a number of others. I did hear Can’t Get Over You featuring Joe and he nails this track. The CD is available on September 29th. You can purchase at the CocoaMommy Store

Hill Harper’s book : The Conversation How Black Men and Women Can Build Loving, Trusting Relationships

Today Hill Harper,New York Times bestselling author and actor was on the Steve Harvey Morning Show promoting his new book. I am a fan of his acting and he currently plays Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on CSI New York. He is also a Harvard Law School alum where he met President Obama. He mentioned during the interview that he uses the President and First Lady as a model for relationships. I love to read books on relationships and I can’t wait to read his perspective as an African American single male. He mentioned that he plans to be married in the next 2-3 years. I wonder if we can really hold him to this timeline….we will have to stay tuned.
